API terms
Last updated Oct 21, 2026
These terms cover the CrimeMetric API and MCP server, run by Vorp Labs, Inc. By getting or using a key you agree to them.
What the data is
CrimeMetric numbers are modeled estimates of reported crime per resident, built from agency totals reported to the FBI and other public data. They are not records of individual incidents, they carry uncertainty (shown as an 80% interval and a confidence level), and they change between releases. They are provided as they are, without any warranty of accuracy or fitness for a purpose.
How you may use it
- Show the numbers to your users inside your own product, and use them for your own analysis.
- Label them as CrimeMetric modeled estimates wherever you show them, and keep the interval or confidence level available with the number.
- Store responses for up to 30 days to serve your users. After that, request them again so you have the current release.
What you may not do
- Use the data to make or support decisions about individual people, including tenant screening, credit or lending, insurance underwriting or pricing, and employment.
- Use the data to steer people toward or away from a neighborhood, or in any way that discriminates on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin or another protected characteristic.
- Present the numbers as safety ratings, grades or guarantees, or drop the interval and label so an estimate reads as a fact.
- Copy the dataset in bulk: systematically request block groups beyond what your product needs, build or keep a copy of the dataset, or resell or redistribute responses.
- Share your key, or use several keys to get around plan limits.
Datasets and redistribution
The full block-group dataset, higher volume and redistribution rights are available under a separate written license. Get in touch.
Plans and billing
Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, and monthly limits reset on the first of each month (UTC). Upgrading keeps the same key. To cancel a paid plan, contact us; it stays active until the end of the month already paid.
Suspension and changes
We may limit, suspend or revoke a key that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk. We may change the API, the plans or these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use a key after a change means you accept it.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Vorp Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before it.
